Rumor: Asus Plans to Launch DRAM Production by 2026 Due to Memory Shortage
Taiwan’s Asus plans to launch its own DRAM production to cope with the memory shortage and avoid price increases. This insider information was shared by the Iranian publication Sakhtafzarmag. It is reported that the production lines could become operational as early as mid-2026.
By the end of 2025, a global shortage emerged in the memory market because key suppliers are focused on shipments for AI data centers rather than the consumer market. Experts predict that market conditions will not improve until 2028.
The launch of in-house production is intended to ensure stable memory supplies for ROG and TUF. Currently, Asus relies on components sourced from Micron and Samsung.
Wccftech notes that the leaks from Sakhtafzarmag should be treated with skepticism, although the publication has previously shared reliable rumors regarding AMD and Intel.
Other sources have not yet reported on similar plans by Asus.
