Microsoft Aggressively Promotes Copilot When Users Search for ChatGPT

The Copilot banner is now several times larger than actual search results. WindowsLatest noticed that the Bing search engine is actively discouraging Windows 11 users from using competitors like ChatGPT and Gemini.

It was discovered that when searching for rival chatbots, Bing displays a massive interactive Copilot widget that is approximately five times larger than a traditional link or ad. In addition to a prompt bar, the widget suggests specific actions like image generation and writing assistance.

A similar tactic was recently spotted when searching for the Chrome browser; Bing almost entirely covers the search results with an ad for Microsoft Edge, highlighting its advantages over Google’s browser. Sources suggest this aggressive marketing confuses users and could potentially violate antitrust laws, though no official charges have been filed against Microsoft yet.
