Bloomberg on Apple’s Plans for Early 2026: iPhone 17e, New iPads, and a Budget MacBook

The beginning of the year is set to be very busy for the Cupertino giant. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman shared Apple’s plans for the coming months in his weekly insider newsletter.

Gurman confirmed previous rumors regarding the release of the mid-range iPhone 17e with an A19 chip and MagSafe, as well as the first budget MacBook in years featuring an iPhone-series chipset.

Additionally, Apple will update the base iPad with the A18 chip and Apple Intelligence support, while the iPad Air will transition to the M4. In the near future, Apple will also release a new generation of MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Gurman noted that M4 versions are becoming scarce, signaling a reduction in shipments as the company prepares for the new models.

According to Gurman, the new laptops, including the MacBook Air with the M5 chip, will be launched in the coming weeks alongside macOS 26.3—likely in early March.
