According to new information, the module dimensions will not shrink as much as many thought. Photos of the new Face ID module, reportedly intended for the iPhone 18 Pro, have leaked online.
Early rumors suggested that the TrueDepth module in the upcoming Apple flagship would move entirely under the display, leaving only a circular hole for the front camera, similar to Android smartphones. However, insider Instant Digital clarified that the media misunderstood the leak: it specifically referred to the IR sensor, which is part of the Face ID system.
Based on the construction, the IR module will be located closer to the left corner of the display, while the front camera will remain in its usual place. Because of this, the size of the “pill” in the center of the display will shrink, but not significantly. Another insider confirmed that the media likely got confused by the terminology when translating data from Chinese and Korean.
