Samsung Display has reportedly started production of OLED panels for the laptop earlier than planned—meaning the MacBook itself could also launch sooner.
The MacBook Pro with the M6 chip is expected to be one of the most significant updates to Apple’s professional laptop line in recent history. It is rumored to feature a touchscreen OLED display, remove the “notch,” and feature a thinner design. According to recent rumors, this MacBook could be released by the end of 2026.
Previously, insiders suggested an M6 release for late 2026 or early 2027. Now, source yeux1122 reports that Samsung Display has started production of the OLED panels ahead of schedule—beginning in January instead of the originally planned second quarter of 2026.
Because production is ahead of schedule, it is speculated that the MacBook Pro itself could be released earlier. However, the source has a mixed track record, so the rumor should be taken with caution. Before the M6 arrives, updates to Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are still expected in the first half of 2026.
