iPhone 17e to Gain MagSafe, While New iPad mini Will Feature a Flagship Chipset

Will the main drawbacks of these devices finally be fixed?

The publication The Information has reported that the iPhone 17e, Apple’s next mid-range smartphone, will receive MagSafe support. The iPhone 16e, which debuted in the spring of 2025, became the only smartphone in the company’s current lineup without support for the proprietary wireless charging technology.

It is also reported that the smartphone will feature the updated Apple C1X cellular modem, which first appeared in the iPhone Air. However, the smartphone will not receive the proprietary N1 chip for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Another set of rumors comes from MacRumors regarding the next iPad mini. The device is expected to feature dust and water resistance (a first for any iPad) and an OLED display.

Furthermore, it has now been revealed that the tablet will be powered by the most powerful chipset available—the A20 Pro—which is also set to appear in the iPhone 18 Pro. The current 7th-generation iPad mini was released with the A17 Pro, which was also a flagship chip until recently. The new iPad mini is expected to be released in the fall of 2026.
